i have 11.10 system want install misterhouse on (a perl program). have desktop system gui , following install instructions here (with few obvious changes due newer ubuntu version). http://misterhouse.wikispaces.com/configureubuntu created user mh command given on page: useradd -d /opt/misterhouse -c misterhouse -g mh -p [password of choice] mh not able log in initial log in screen. gave me improper password error set password again passwd. took password not load gui - @ least appeared happen. user shell used su mh (it might have been: su - mh)to log in. worked sort of. got command prompt , basic commands command history didn't work. guessing of options used adduser caused problems setting user properly. program doesn't need run graphic user setup plus. went wrong , how fix it? nice remove 'misterhouse' reference on account too, , use 'mh'. there few things can think of.

hi all, sorry problem. i've installed ubuntu 12.04 on toshiba satellite p200 laptop, , sound won't work @ all. i've been through trouble shooting process still no sound. installed additional drivers package , still no sound can please me, hardware ati/amd propietary fglrx graphics driver. kind regards kay hey kay! had similar problem. except had sound no mic , so. solution mine install 'alsa mixer' ubuntu's 'software center'. if run can see volume control thingy in it. may need unmute or adjust volume on some. hope can if problem still exists. i installed ubuntu server on little home server have , it's working great except took client's house , has static ip on home network. set on wireless switch , laptop in house connects fine except machines windows. when came time connect ubuntu server on static ip couldn't figure out. changed file /etc/network/interfaces change dhcp connection static connection using credentials, here's how looked: iface eth0 inet static address 184.70.214.xxx netmask 255.255.255.xxx network 184.70.214.0 broadcast 184.70.214.0 gateway 184.70.214.xxx dns-nameserver 64.59.135.xxx 64.59.128.xxx set address static ip given isp. set netmask subnet mask given , set gateway gateway given. i'm not sure set rest to, guessed based on came on google, right? there else need change? ran few commands afterwards: code: sudo ifdown eth0 sudo ifup eth0 sudo service networking restart what else need do? when @ connected devices in administrati

i bought dvd amazon . both products loaded properly. can not past welcome screen.  both apparently got registered properly. insists trial on buy copy! obviously simple retail pack bought on dvd.   i have uninstalled , reinstalled 3 times - once going earlier restore point.  once pse opened.  when closed down , configured open not on welcome screen on editor, on shortcut wouldn't open welcome screen - , had reinstall it..   i can think somehow, when activated serial number thinks expired trial version - , yes on windows [saw posts claiming people got mac serial no's] i have seen few forum posts - no way fix it.   i came realise photoshop great product - version 9 was. adobe has worst support infrastructure have ever seen .   i think deliberate ploy lose customer in labarynth of semi relevant online questions; dump @ end forum this, generosity of existing users you. well smart way avoid hiring trained people proper support department.   so need ideas?   do think if return amazon

what find helpful using illustrator web designer? i have used photoshop , illustrator , find easier web design in illustrator. in fact don't see advantage in photoshop except layer comps way send file customer has photoshop experience navigation series of  pngs work too. in illustrator easier manage , edit numerous elements objects , editable appearances. resizing things more convenient too. photoshop has better filters , effects latest trend of flat simple designs nobody wants anymore. i attempting import .docx file indesign, , pictures coming out of text , "floating" on top of document. not able set them in text, , not able import .pdf version of document because cloud-based version of indesign subscribed not allow me import .pdf files. sixth time have re-imported document, , getting frustrating. i'd appreciate assistance can offer.   thanks @mariquita88 – can provide screenshots? showing hidden characters, object edges , threaded text frames (select 1 of these images).     are images freely anchored texts? think, should "inline" after placing .docx file. could try opening word file in ms word app , save in older .doc format , try again?   the thing not allowing import pdfs strange one. indesign cc, , take words, using indesign cc (is patched latest version v9.1.0?) should able place pdfs. unless pdf secured , restricted password.   on os indesign running?   uwe   message edited by: laubender More discussions in InDesign adobe

hi, have been running ubuntu studio 12.04 no problems till afternoon....applied regular updates , x server fails stating there mismatch between driver version , kernel module. appreciate if can tell me how revert the old kernel module or find new driver. many thanks. edit: ok, found work around 1. rmmod nvidia 2. depmod <old nvidia-295 > latest kermel module 304.xx - can find nvidia-304 driver avoid mismatch of kernel module , driver versions?? did use nvidia-current package automatically installed during 12.04 installation (if installed on system nvidia)? that, or if added x-swat ppa, nvidia driver should update automatically , remain coordinated kernel modules. however, need reboot after kernel updates. if ran script downloaded nvidia website, ubuntu package manager knows nothing that, may need rerun script (or updated version of it) after kernel updates (some program updates mention nvidia).
