okay, took plunge.  bought new 'photographers cc' 9.99 per month.  after all, i'm on lr 3.6 , want of new fancy features of lr5.2.   copied catalog new directory. imported lr5.   after catalog has been imported, ran optimize catalog make sure it's in sync lr5 wanted.   i'm running on imac, 2.7 ghz intel core i5 12 gb memory.  os x 10.9.   photos, catalog, , previews stored on external firewire 7.2k harddrive 1.8 tb free space.   i have 3 catalogs use on regular basis.   my main catalog has 62k photos in catalog , 20 gb cache.  other 2 each have less 10k photos.   in lr3 things move along no problems.  delays minimal, able switch between library , develop modules, make edits , move through photos.   in lr5 converted main catalog, or freshly created catalog 20 photos, lr5 doggy.   using latest 2012 camera calibration process hurts.       healing brush jerky.       if zoom 8 1 , drag around screen there long delay, yes go down 8 1.  zoom in , out has noticeable delays.

i installed ubuntu 12.04 desktop on 64gb ssd without problems. configured via onboard raid 2 identical 3tb drives operate raid0 @ 128 stripe @ max size. once ubuntu booted up, goto disk utility , shows 3 drives on sata host adapter [raid mode] showing too. reports each drive 3tb 3tb , 64gb expected. however, under peripheral devices 1.6tb hard drive appears. @ time of installation when had option chose disk install to, noticed reported 1.6tb drive , 64gb ssd. plan install os on ssd , use raid0 2x3tb drives file storage. when un-raid 2 3tbs 1.6tb disk goes away... how can ubuntu recognize raid array 6tb should? dear all, bought new desktop pc following specs: video card: pci express gt440 1gb ddr3 evga cpu i5 3450 mainboard intel dz77sl-50k oem hdmi sin vga 1tb sata drive unpartitioned, think, got out of box. have 12.04.1 amd64 iso image burnt cd , created live usb stick. i've tried enabling , disabling uefi in bios menu, , tried booting both live cds , live usb , without uefi (because boot menu allows me choose). in bios uefi enabled+uefi boot option, grub menu offering: "try ubuntu without installing" "install ubuntu" "check disc defects" none of these options works, pick 1 option, system crashes , reboots. sake of testing, tried install windows 7 32 bits, , boot process advanced point crashed. i've been reading lot, , many people says need esp before installing, created live usb. problem hdd empty , live usb won't boot, i'm kinda stuck. information got out there overly co

hello all. ever since upgraded 11.10 12.04 i've been having display problems. basic symptom display buffer appears corrupted. seems affect alt-tab display - instead of seeing little pictures of windows boxes windows have garbage in them, random text , messed images. after spreads status bar @ top of screen , windows - example, emacs have garbage text across top of window , inside buffer area. switching vt , x clear it, not. system lock , i'll have restart. far fix i've found running unity 2d, frankly that's not great @ all. feels second-class environment. i've tried upgrading nvidia drivers twice - first 304.37 304.43 yesterday, both times using nvidia's installer. before running 295.59. i'm updated running 3.2.0-29-generic kernel. machine thinkpad t510 dedicated gpu - nvs 3100m, aka gt218. don't see useful in x logs or in syslog, let me know if want see them anyway. help! sam

hi¨   after 2 documents openened , printed succesfully adobe acrobat refuses open window. there countless acrobat.exe processe running after logged out , on again. acrobat doesn't open window short time acrobat.exe appears in task manager disappears without error message. i have acrobat 10.0 cs6 on windows 8.0   this happened on 2 computers. paid 400 euro cs6 suite seems rather buggy.   had same problem fixed ? first of all, reader forum, not acrobat forum.   acrobat 10 not compatible windows 8 unless update @ least 10.1.5 ... , try again. here's little bit of background question. have used lightroom organizing imports canon 6d , 7d along developing them. shoot i'm looking on, these questions, quite different i'm accustomed to. looking @ taking portraits of large number of people @ school fundraiser club lighting conditions same , camera on tripod shooting tethered capture laptop. if following  questions appreciated, thanks.   1. possible in tethered capture have metadata panel open @ same time , able have type down email address each individual picture?   2. following question one, possible email photos shoot individually recipients listed in metadata?   3. can lightroom automatically print photos after taken tethered shoot?   4. can lightroom save specific tags in metadata collection text file listed along file name?   a bit of of questions great, haven't attempted before , frankly haven't found in documentation lightroom. apologize confusing wording, computer wasn't accessible typed on iphone.

i using indesign magazine layout template i've used many times, no problems. have object styles set 1, 2 , 3 column text boxes, gutters built latter two. in past, have applied these object styles , well. tonight -- happen, under deadline! -- columns come in without gutters, , text overlaps gutters should be. have googled answer , can't find 1 anywhere. out there can me soonest? much! -- csinclaire really need screen shot, 2 possibilities you've superimposed single-column frame on 2 columns (or change column count on two-column frame), or pragraph style set span columns. it's nice kow when contact adobe customer service , ask them if can have copy of cloud software on disk , explain them don't have access superhigh speed internet live (2mbs max) tell you, "no, download software". so, guess spend next month downloading software need school. thanks adobe not helping people out. i have 2mbs per second , took not time @ download (less day). start off before go school , done time back.
