Question: I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong and would so appreciate help.

i need help! took on project produce free of charge online publication non-profit nature club not else. background in communications not @ design or layout level. bought indesign , how-to book , first issue turned out quite well. however, have run problem second issue can't past , has cover. have colour works seasonal masthead , cover photo , want apply background cover page. want text box highlights of what's in issue appear on top of background. have tried 2 different ways make happen.

 

1. made text box cover entire space , applied colour swatch. had cover photo in place. tried add text box list highlights. couldn't type in it.

 

2. went scratch and  created text box highlights. however, don't see way of applying colour background  below masthead.

 

i have no idea how got work first issue did in spring, you'll see second image attached.

i think might. suspect what's happening when try type in second text frame cursor in upper left corner of page, in background frame, behind masthead.

 

you make work more if use layer background , put color filled frame on it, lock layer. add layer on top of images, , third text (you can away single layer both images , text, though if like).

 

you can add color fill text frame same way empty frame -- select it, make fill procy active, , specify color.
