quick story on issue: before this, dual booted windows 7 , arch linux, of recent changes made, , steam (eventually, definitely) coming linux, (specifically being supported ubuntu of now.) decided install ubuntu. naturally, first thing did take usb , put nice, freshly installed iso of ubuntu 12.04 on (which has worked in past on booting backtrack, same usb same computer) , try install. familiar purple screen flashed second before being replaced empty shell (i.e. black screen blinking white underscore in top left corner) let sit way little bit. not thing happened. reboot, , burn myself iso onto dvd @ slowest speed , pop in drive , attempt boot. same thing happened. keep in mind, kept doing needed boot usb , dvd (i.e. hitting delete bios menu (have ever heard of that? delete bios menu key? sure never have before, before got computer!) f8 menu , selecting usb stick or dvd drive, depending of course on booting). @ rate, take out dvd had ubuntu 11.10 on it, booted charm

background: messed ownership & permissions under /usr. fixed of comparing system. problems remain. if echo "test" | wall test message not appear on gnome-terminal. test message appear on xterms , "real" ttys (tested switching out of x , logging console). checked: terminals (gnome, x, console) report mesg y. have reinstalled gnome-terminal , bsdutils. no change. fact xterm gets messages tells me problem not affecting entire x session, i'm not sure next. appreciated! hello all,   i have simple composition animates 2 shapes using "screen" show photos.  shapes 3d; camera movement minimal.  have ambient light , 2 spot lights.    i on 1 year old i7 processor 16 gb of ram.  cache files written ssd.    still taking long time render (it's 3 minute project , takes 20+ hours render), , there's no pics added - "screen".   the final project similar many templates can find show photos/videos.   it's fancy slideshow, unlike can buy, hold 25 30 pics.    any thoughts on can either use other 3d shape (but still keep 3d) or change parameters or workflow cut down render time. . .  pre-rendering composition (which take 20+ hours) obviously, if want change movement or overall length, means day of rendering.    thanks in advance, if using ray-traced 3d renderer , not using gpu provides acceleration feature, rendering slow: http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2012/05/gpu-cuda-opengl-features-in-after-effects-cs6. html   in general, reco

hi, ever since moving ubuntu 10.04 xubuntu 12.04 i've had problems using tar daily backups. first issue tar v1.26 falsely detecting files/directories had changed when know had not been changed: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2021364 moved down v1.22 , seemed work week started hang causing processor jump 100% , each morning have kill process. i've moved v1.23 problem facing log backup reporting verify finds contents differ quite few directories. again know these directories have not changed. never had of these issues under ubuntu 10.04. causing large logs created , our backup check script (that runs on backup logs) reporting warning me. of course have review warning check not else wrong backup. should note tar v1.23 run correctly had patch source code , rebuild it: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bu.../msg00023.html update: have raised bug gnu tar have nothing... in end

we have scheduled task runs every 15 minutes , looks in 'coldfusion9\mail\undelivr' folder undelivered emails. if finds moves them 'spool' folder. has been running fine year. last week applied hotfix apsb13-27 , next day started seeing emails in 'undelivr' folder hours. manually ran task moves emails 'spool' folder, , email sent fine. makes me think scheduled task not running think.     is there has heard hotfix apsb13-27 causing problems scheduled tasks?     we running cf version 9,0,1,274733, use jrun4 app server, on server running windows server 2008 r2.     any appreciated. hello nwbob,   did try creating scheduled task same functionality. there reference errors in scheduler.log.   regards, anit kumar More discussions in ColdFusion adobe

hi. installed minimal ubuntu netinstall iso. got openbox , running , installed other software. but, can't mount ntfs partitions dual booting windows system. installed thunar , show side of it, when click on them, says unauthorized access. yes, have ntfs-3g installed. also, installed alsa-base , alsa-utils, cannot command "alsamixer" run. says, "no directory , something". edit: 12.04. appreciated banging head since 2 days. thanks. any getting thunar open ntfs partitions appreciated. see them on left panel, always, "cannot mount, not authorized" edit: installing softwares solved sound issue. but, 1 still remains. i have 5 webservers , failed our pci complaince. primary culprit apache running apache/2.2.14 (ubuntu) version. looking twords day's end, saw post added oneiric disto sources.list. added that, did upgrade, 300+ meg came through, not apache. followed apt-get dist-upgrade took time few more packages , done. rebooted , greeted kernel panic; kernel panic - not syncing: vfs: unable mount root fs on unknown block (0,0) looking around others have seen , booted off old kernel. did , things came , running fine. but, /etc/issue still shows 10.04lts existing one. apt-get dist-upgrade shows; reading package lists... done building dependency tree reading state information... done calculating upgrade... done 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 remove , 0 not upgraded. looking @ souces.list, still show lucid ones also, commented out single oneiric. looking @ grub.cfg see; ### begin /etc/grub.d/10_linux ### menuentry 'ubuntu, lin

hi, had idea , wondered if possible. cleverly dropped netbook on floor. 12.10 still booted, there problem mounting /home partition (i suspected head had knocked disc). tried reinstalling new partitions - failed due hd fault. this: 1) find out @ point of 0-160gb disc physical problem lies. 2) make slim partition includes bad sectors of disc ignored in subsequent installation. stuck @ 1). ideas? position need found bootable disc. in end, able resuscitate, despite ****** hard drive. halved disk partitioner, ignored first half , set install on second half. runs fine. mileage may vary.
