1) recommanded way partition ubuntu desktop?
have seperate /home partition , / partition else.

i'm wondering if there way partition system in way, after formatting, installed program's still there?

, whats benefit of having separate boot partition?


2) how debug non working/booting system log files? start if example, system won't start after upgraded display driver?

or how can found why sound not working? looking on google, entered command's, appeared sound card there appertly not starting.
know , in linux system before start searching google , asking on forums.
there in /dev can move , copy make sound card start? or there 'if up' make sound car start?

3) in unity, there way maximize , minimize windows clicking on same icon twice?
now, if click icon lauch program starts in full screen, when want minimize same window, , click same icon, nothing happens. why that?

there possibility disable global menubar when windows not maximized , enable global menubar only when windows maximized?
searching lot answer option not seem exist. tried many programs 'ubuntutweak', 'myunity','dconf' , 'unsettings. , while applications gave option disable global menubar, none gave me option only enable when windows maximized.

4) there software center alternative can use sync software between different ubuntu machines, not software installed ubuntu software center?

hi, if developing platform independent software in linux using gtk+/gtkmm , you've managed cross compile windows, guide you. i'm posting because after researching topic myself, encountered many posts people have abandoned gtk+/gtkmm wxwidgets because of gtks ugly default appearance in windows/wine. gtk+ themeable in windows/wine gnome. have set correctly . . . here's how. guide gtkmm gtk+ similar. (1) firstly, download , install gtkmm windows using wine. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
