i have lubuntu 12.04 64bit (latest updates installed) on acer aspire 1 ao722 , have no sound. period. particularly puzzling because i'm not using proprietary formats either. when trying play music, gnome mplayer doesn't play, audacious spits out alsa error no suitable mixer element found, , rhythmbox crashes when trying play audio. entire music library encoded vorbis (.ogg), , when watching youtube in html5, still no sound (though video works). understanding stuff suppose work out of box. what's problem here? also, i'm trying avoid proprietary software as possible. well obvious (and sorry if offends), sure nothing muted. sometime mixer funky: http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/.../amixer.1.html otherwise may similar issue encountered when tried lubuntu , see solution. the colours, particularly blue sky, of nikon nef image when viewed in camera raw (and when opened in ps proper) dull compared when viewed nikon viewnx2 , irfanview. saved jpg images viewed.   in addition, image in camera raw shows chromatic aberration, such short focal lengths (18-46 mm) dark object or shadow shows green edge left when located @ left of image, , top, bottom , right positions (the green big). there corresponding purple edge on other side of dark object (the purple small). long focal lengths (100 - 200 mm) reverse applies , 70 mm there no aberration. aberration not noticeable unless image magnified point pixels become apparent. both viewnx2 , irfanview show little or no aberration.   the colour shift in first paragraph main concern.   the colour space selected in camera raw has no obvious effect. using srgb. correction: colour space selected have effect, not immediately. srgb closest match other viewers, not same.   although not explicity stated, implied two-fold quest

hi everyone: downloaded/check md5 iso 64bit. burned it, , when installing did not detect 2 sata disks. mobo asus a8v-x. have been reading might bios setting, it? if so, whats setting should use? on second level, , less important: desambiguation: sata (serial ata), dont mean have use raid (a logical configuration of disks). have been reading lot, , got mixed up, or perhaps there did not know. if disks have been used in raid, there meta data remains , installer ignoring them. first go bios , set sata mode ahci. no, don't need use raid if don't want to. after making sure sata mode ahci, boot ubuntu cd in live mode (try ubuntu), open terminal , execute: code: sudo dmraid -e -r /dev/sda sudo dmraid -e -r /dev/sdb that remove meta data , installer should work fine after that. note: not run above commands if using raid because break array. install on raid different procedure.

hello, @ wits' end. have harddrive that's ~500g. has been plenty before, , other day upgraded 11.10 12.04, after point started filling very, quickly. first cleared out old log files, , sorted few hours. today realised cupsd spitting out lot of errors, removed logs , fixed issue. yet, continues complain there no harddisk space. have removed several files, , have emptied both root trash , normal trash (i'm user on computer). according disk usage analyzer usage 486.9 gb/495.4 gb (which still should leave 8.5gb available, , yet can't save textfile that's @ few kb!). scanning filesystem folder / uses 26 gb, /home largest @ 17.6gb (i have lot of crap =), , user @ 5.4gb , var/lib @ 2gb. can me figure out diskspace going, or if should expect new harddrive going crash day? outputs: sudo df -h code: filesystem size used avail use% mounted on /dev/sda1 462g 448g 0 100% / udev 1.9g 4.0k 1.9g 1% /dev tmpfs

i wanted upgrade old version of ubuntu recent 1 made following steps: 1) created large (over 30gb) tar.gz archive containing data home directory 2) moved ntfs partition 3) launched ubuntu (12.04) cd 4) resized ntfs partition during installation 5) completed installation launched brand new ubuntu , wanted copy archive so: 1) mounted partition on archive located 2) have run 'ls -l' in place of filesize, modification date etc. '?' appeared instead of values 3) launched windows xp installed on same machine , did not show file on partition @ 4) linux not show file anymore tried running chkdisk under windows did not fix problem. tried ntfsundelete in linux shows file cannot recovered. appreciate much! have lost lot of data. have happend? there chance of recovering file? posted pawelmand i wanted upgrade old version of ubuntu recent 1

okay, i've got blu-ray disc. i've set mplayer , mount points , when type mplayer -fs br:////mnt/blu/ it'll play blu-ray in mplayer in fullscreen fine, no stuttering or anything, selectable subtitles, etc. problem it'll play first title on blu-ray. major problem. can't seem figure out how switch titles whilst in video (< , > nothing). on mplayer manual page on website says try: mplayer br://1 or br://2 or whatever select title number. problem is, doesn't work @ all, can't seem figure out br:// referring to, , need manually enter entire directory blu-ray disc (br:////mnt/blu/). adding 1/2/whatever number end of doesn't load title different. nor adding -title switch. cannot life of me figure out. i'd try smplayer, doesn't have option load blu-ray disc anywhere @ all. help? alright, so, installed ubuntu 12.04 lts on dell optiplex desktop, run minecraft server. here's problem - run in terminal, usual. upgraded bukkit version r01 r02 - issue is, when changed .jar file, still ran r01 version. deleted every version of craftbukkit off computer, , emptied trash can. still ran server when put in commands, despite not having .jar run from. running lxde @ time, changed regular unity desktop enviorment. there found before downloaded r02 version of craftbukkit. same old r01 .jar. deleted that, , tried install plugin, namely mobhealth. ran commands again, , worked. loaded mobhealth , r02 .jar after i'd downloaded , upgraded again. however, each plugin should generate folder - mobhealth didn't. i've done same thing mobhealth did r01/r02 .jars, , still loads mobhealth despite there not being mobhealth.jar on computer @ all. have switched , forth lxde unity, restarted computer, everything. in end, cannot change file

so kinda of dumb question here i'm not sure what's going on.   when try upload video created in trial version of premire, vimeo keeps saying file "isn't video file", got similar error when tried upload vido youtube.   i have tried h.264, prores , apple motion jpeg codecs in both .mov , .mp4 wrappers, keep getting same message. when chose different file, no problems.   is there sort of limitation on trial version of premire prevesnts exported videos being shared through social media? premiere has no limitations in trial. use vimeo preset h.264 format box. see if help. ok, i've been searching net hour , can't find solution anywhere, i'm coming here backup. i've been using ctrl+space shortcut while , particular issue plaguing me since cs4 (scrubby/animated zoom introduction).   usually, use ctrl+space while on move tool smooth-pan around in zoomed in document. sometimes, zoom document entirely out , allow me drag kind of marquee representing size of zoomed view can move around if using navigator. if happens , not let go space key, can zoom entirely out , in @ will.   it happens when toggle hastily between zoom tool , move tool while zooming, panning (back , forth) document lot must make weird combination unwillingly (something z+space or v+space maybe).   anybody knows happening? i've tried combinations of modifiers , can't trigger feature willingly. it's pretty annoying expecting pan away , instead being zoomed out entirely. feels confusing... entity sucking me way sky without warning, tossing me on ground somewhere didn&#

i'm running ubuntu 12.04 on system has 2 hard drives. os (ubuntu) installed on 1 150gb drive , have 300gb drive use programs (x-plane). i've been able second drive recognized in disk utility still can't listed available location installation when use x-plane installer. using gparted to format drive (ext4) didn't problem either. drive show mounted , listed in “ my computer ”. have ideas on i'm doing wrong? when shows mounted, careful. partitions show in nautilus in left side menu, not mounted ones. best check if it's mounted with: df -h list mounted partitions , mount points (except swap). otherwise, if have configured mount @ mount point, should available there. not sure if show default destination programs or need select it, should @ mount point. how mounting it, using entry in /etc/fstab? photoshop , illustrator pdf files (cs5 & 6) print correctly work pc, not either of macs. see below:   at work, have dell pc , imac, @ home have macbook pro.   @ work there big office color ricoh printer dell , imac, @ home have epson 3-in-one laserjet macbook pro.   both work , home macs print  illustrator/photoshop pdfs dark/undersaturated/off color on relative printers, work pc prints them correctly.   at work, if hold print of pdf file printed dell pc, , 1 printed imac, different looking - dell print matches dell , imac screens, imac print dark , dull.   at work, when open illustrator or photoshop pdf on work pc , send richo printer, comes out matching screen, but, if open on imac , send richo printer, prints dark/off color.   these *exact* same pdf files opening on both pc , imac - our files saved on server i'm accessing same documents on both machines.   also, create files on imac , save them server on imac, if open them on imac prints dark, , if open them on pc, prints c
