Thread: Problems mounting an encrypted external drive


i have system76 lemur ultra thin (lemu4) ubuntu 12.04.1 64 bit long term service installed primary , default operating system. have older seagate freeagent desk 1.50 terabyte usb 2.0 external desktop hard disk drive. launched disks utility , formatted hard disk drive using gpt. created partition using luks encryption version 1 , /ext4 file system. put in unique randomly generated 40+ character password , verified same @ time of creation. when launch nautilus, see , try mount it, keeps giving me error after put in same exact password:

unable mount 1.5 tb encrypted
1 or more block devices holding /dev/sdf1

did google search specific error message , did not find useful solved problem.

going on here?

how mount encrypted hard disk drive properly?

else need know?

trying replace truecrypt 7.1a luks because built-in ubuntu 12.04.1 64 bit lts.

please reply answers , solution. thank you.

i unplugged it. then, plugged in. mounted typing in password. works.

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
