Thread: Nvidia fails after applying updates


hi, have been running ubuntu studio 12.04 no problems till afternoon....applied regular updates , x server fails stating there mismatch between driver version , kernel module.

appreciate if can tell me how revert the old kernel module or find new driver.

edit: ok, found work around

1. rmmod nvidia
2. depmod <old nvidia-295 >

latest kermel module 304.xx - can find nvidia-304 driver avoid mismatch of kernel module , driver versions??

did use nvidia-current package automatically installed during 12.04 installation (if installed on system nvidia)? that, or if added x-swat ppa, nvidia driver should update automatically , remain coordinated kernel modules. however, need reboot after kernel updates.

if ran script downloaded nvidia website, ubuntu package manager knows nothing that, may need rerun script (or updated version of it) after kernel updates (some program updates mention nvidia).

hi, if developing platform independent software in linux using gtk+/gtkmm , you've managed cross compile windows, guide you. i'm posting because after researching topic myself, encountered many posts people have abandoned gtk+/gtkmm wxwidgets because of gtks ugly default appearance in windows/wine. gtk+ themeable in windows/wine gnome. have set correctly . . . here's how. guide gtkmm gtk+ similar. (1) firstly, download , install gtkmm windows using wine. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
