Thread: DNS resolver problem in Ubunutu 12.04 server


my first precise pangolin deployment.

i'm having issues dns resolution not working - turns out /etc/resolv.conf not anymore place manage this.

tried add “dns-nameservers”, “dns-search” , “dns-domain” entries in /etc/network/interfaces don't seem work either (no server reached error, although can ping listed dns-nameservers).

interfaces files reads

auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 172.16.200.50 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 172.16.200.1 dns-nameservers 172.16.200.25 172.16.100.5 dns-search mydomain.local
if host xxx.domain.com 172.16.200.25 resolves fine - it's there config problem default resolvers. issuing "dig" times out "no server reached".

tried manually edit /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/head doesn't help.

missing ?

disable dnsmasq , see happens.

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
