Thread: Can't boot from LiveCD, shows black screen with blinking cursor.


i figured i'd try out ubuntu 12.04 running cd, when try boot cd nothing happened except black screen blinking cursor. set cd downloading *.iso file , burning infrarecorder on windows xp. of note when try open file cd, error message saying, "cannot open [filename] file. make sure disk in drive specified." don't think computer-specific problem because tried on computer , same black screen showed up.

did turn down write speed before burning?

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
