Thread: Will boot from CD, but not from HDD


i searched few titled threads, nothing seemed match comp's symptoms.

assembled computer i'm typing on, , i'm doing through "try ubuntu" live cd. installation went fine, no messy partitions, no hardware failure, drivers lan , video card work fine on cd, when try boot hard drive sputtering screen (orange , black). checked hard drive (742 gb file system) , looks normal layout, home directory , everything.

hope right forum; responses appreciated.

(btw tried both 64 , 32 bit .iso)

can switch tty when happens? if so, try running 'unity --reset" tty1 , see if lets log in...


(switching between ttys easy: ctrl+alt+'f1-f6' , think ctrl+alt+f7 gui...)

hi, if developing platform independent software in linux using gtk+/gtkmm , you've managed cross compile windows, guide you. i'm posting because after researching topic myself, encountered many posts people have abandoned gtk+/gtkmm wxwidgets because of gtks ugly default appearance in windows/wine. gtk+ themeable in windows/wine gnome. have set correctly . . . here's how. guide gtkmm gtk+ similar. (1) firstly, download , install gtkmm windows using wine. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
