hi,
did fresh installation of ubuntu 12.04 64bit having problems resolution. tv should able handle 1920x1080 @ 60hz when when running
code:
xrandr -q
i get
code:
xrandr: failed size of gamma output default screen 0: minimum 640 x 480, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1280 x 1024 default connected 1024x768+0+0 0mm x 0mm 1280x1024 0.0 1024x768 0.0* 800x600 0.0 640x480 0.0
the graphics card use is: advanced micro devices [amd] nee ati beavercreek [radeon hd 6530d].
beginner here appreciated.

did install proprietary driver radeon? run "additional drivers" application, , determine proper driver download , install it.

have bravia connected nvidia-based card dvi<>hdmi cable. runs @ 1920x1080 fine when use custom nvidia utility set resolution. believe there's equivalent application ati graphics.
