Thread: HDMI Flashes black (reset?) when audio is started.

i grant issue of tv, issue drivers etc, i'm hoping troubleshooting process going.

issue : when program or task started contains audio, screen flashes black split second (coming fine), , audio engages second later.

same occurs when audio disengaged.

example : if open youtube video, screen flash black half second, , audio engage 1 second video. there no further issues provided video remains open. same occurs when playing video files, or audio notifications such chat programs (in case first notification missed, subsequent sounds play fine.)

far can gather, seems me video output disengages momentarily while audio can patched through hdmi output of video card. of course wrong.

first instinct assume audio disengaged when not in use, , given it's fed through hdmi port, video drivers have re-start (or similar) combine audio.
hence, hope it's simple matter of finding way tell audio not disengage when not in use, or tell video driver have audio patched.

heck, i'm total rookie in these matters, i'm used troubleshooting network issues, not audio/video issues. way off base cause here.

why i'm turning guys.

setup :
ubuntu 12.04 64bit (no modifications other proprietary driver)
updates installed of today.
mb : 970a-d3
cup : x8 bulldozer
video card : amd radeon hd 5450
video driver : ati/amd proprietary fglrx graphics driver
connected : lg surround sound + lg 47" tv
via : hdmi

alright, had been 2 months, , nobody responded.

began rampaging through system files myself, i've solved problem, , left wake of destruction behind... point i'll need start on fresh again... point found cause.


of me issue : here's how fix it.

1 : open terminal (i'm fond of ctrl-alt-t)
2 : type

sudo nano /etc/pulse/default.pa

3 : type password when prompted
4 : scroll down until find entry

### automatically suspend sinks/sources become idle long
load-module module-suspend-on-idle

this cause of headache. @ it, hate it, point finger @ it, yell @ it, berate it... unleash fury , vengeance upon line!!!!

load-module module-suspend-on-idle

make

#load-module module-suspend-on-idle

5 : press ctrl-x , ask if want save, yes, yes do. ask where, press enter overwrite original file.

log out, or restart, , log in.
first sound plays still flash screen black.
every sound after come through without causing issues.

see, primary problem along combining audio , video through hdmi, didn't solve part...
exacerbating part of problem pulseaudio likes "suspend" when not in use. means next sound computer plays has recombine audio , video on again.
meant every chat notification, every system sound, every sound caused screen flash black second or two.

anyways, found solution on own after 2 months.
no else.
