Thread: unity icons and system info disapeared


i signed computer today, has been on forever, , found firefox open no file menu, no unity icons, , no system icons. used firefox search solution , found f11 toggle full screen mode. when exited firefox had no unity icons, no file icons, , no system icons. hitting of f keys (great pun huh) resulted in no activity. how 1 stuff , happened turn them off?

note wife had logged in , given up. not patient enough ubuntu 12.04.

i don't know if have tried (you have) have tried restarting. read - http://www.howtogeek.com/119127/use-...evel-commands/ , if computer not responding or hold power button on desktop or laptop until turns off , turn on again.

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
