Thread: Battery Icon In Panel Does Not Change Or Give Low Battery Warning

i upgraded 10.04 12.04 precise (first point release) on laptop (an msi machine). i've resolved several minor issues can't figure 1 out , have searched hear , on google no avail (hope didn't miss post somewhere).

here problem facing:

battery status icon in panel:
1. icon not change when power cord plugged in or unplugged (the icon remains battery if power source on boot won't change if plug in power adaptor , visa-verse).

2. battery indicator not give me low battery warning or alert (ubuntu shuts down no onscreen warnings). under 10.04, did the low battery warnings before shut down.

while searching, i've found questions icon being missing , reporting battery critically low when not nothing issue. came closest , may related: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1966671 (i have blank in dropdown icon present in panel - isn't functional).

did, however, notice gconf-editor under "apps, gnome-power-manager", there no notification settings (also using dconf-editor icon policy missing present under gconf-editor under "ui"). not sure if matters or not, however.

using gnome-classic noticed same icon issue in unity (not sure if unity has no low battery warning problem, however). have not enabled hibernation don't use wonder if has influence or not.

ideas? missing icon-policy problem? if enable hibernation? known bug , need wait next update?

bump...

despite updating ubuntu released updates, battery / power manager icon still won't change nor track usage (it shows full when being used or when drained). onthis appreciated.
