Thread: What's the deal with Nautilus not connecting to windows shares in 12.04?


i've swear i've tried every permutation of server, domain, user , password nautilus allow me browse windows shares in ubuntu 12.04 , stupid thing keeps asking credentials.

things i've tried:

1. adding following lines on global section of smb.conf:

client lanman auth = yes
client ntlmv2 auth = no

2. trying connect typing server name , domain in caps per numerous threads on subject.

3. tried via alt-f2, via command line "nautilus smb://blahblahblah", via file>connect server in nautilus, etc, etc, etc.

of these end in same frustrating loop of nautilus keep asking credentials/not accepting them.

happening on 12.04. third time since released upgrade system hoping stupid bug has been squashed , run problem, forcing me revert. has solution that works been found?

hi, if developing platform independent software in linux using gtk+/gtkmm , you've managed cross compile windows, guide you. i'm posting because after researching topic myself, encountered many posts people have abandoned gtk+/gtkmm wxwidgets because of gtks ugly default appearance in windows/wine. gtk+ themeable in windows/wine gnome. have set correctly . . . here's how. guide gtkmm gtk+ similar. (1) firstly, download , install gtkmm windows using wine. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
