Thread: Sony VPCF1 Keyboard Backlight Issue


hello, installed linux few days ago i've been unable keyboard backlight function. i've read need alter config file under sys file section everytime try says don't have permission administrator.

guess here's questions.

1. how can fix this?

1-a. if it's giving myself root access how go doing that? i'm linux noob as possible appreciated.

2. also, cannot seem wine install software downloader. everytime click install hangs around 10 seconds goes saying install again. know of fix that?

i have not heard of issue before. method of installing using? using synaptic, ubuntu software center, upgrade manager, etc? vanilla ubuntu 12.04lts install, or have special ui, such kde (maybe via kubuntu or translation-pack), xfce (xubuntu), etc?

happens when try install via terminal? example:

sudo apt-get install wine

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
