Thread: Connecting to windows network


i use ubuntu @ home , love it. @ job have been asked connect linux machine our existing windows network , not ubuntu, believe arch distro last guy setup. changing distro not option have ask software ubuntu gnome use allows automatic discovery of network computers. need able not see entire network @ boot allow users access windows shares , map them there home folders without them having anything. can community please give me hand solving issue. sure there masters out there can tell me how or software need install.

install samba.

apt-get install samba
network shares/hosts appear in network servers either right away or after restart or can connected manually.
