Thread: Cannot open Synaptic Package Manager in custom session


hi, i'm using custom session unity on minimal install of ubuntu 12.04. problem can't open synaptic clicking on launcher or dash. not prompt password.

however, if run
code:
gksudo synaptic
, runs fine. also, if run
code:
synaptic-pkexec
terminal, asks password , launches synaptic fine.

launcher works fine in classic gnome session, think problem might have daemon or missing in custom session. these contents of ~/.xsession :

#!/bin/bash  gnome-terminal &  compiz ccp &  gnome-settings-daemon
please advice

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
