hello! i'm having trouble getting basic gstreamers installed add/remove. think error message telling me repositories no good. "the repository may no longer available or not contacted because of network problems. if available older version of failed index used. otherwise repository ignored. check network connection , ensure repository address in preferences correct." if me fix appreciate it. swapped windows os out of old dell laptop friend.

the release you're using, ubuntu 8.04 lts, had support until april of 2011. support mean security updates , repositories. if want install packages you'll need use install disc source since repositories no longer online.

ideally upgrade recent release of ubuntu (like 12.04 lts supported until april of 2017). way know you're getting security fixes. if hardware older consider xubuntu or lubuntu.

hi, if developing platform independent software in linux using gtk+/gtkmm , you've managed cross compile windows, guide you. i'm posting because after researching topic myself, encountered many posts people have abandoned gtk+/gtkmm wxwidgets because of gtks ugly default appearance in windows/wine. gtk+ themeable in windows/wine gnome. have set correctly . . . here's how. guide gtkmm gtk+ similar. (1) firstly, download , install gtkmm windows using wine. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
