Thread: Dumping Windows

i have dell dimension 4100 2 drives. windows xp , ubuntu 11.10 (i think) live on c: drive , windows files on larger g: drive.
want rid of xp altogether , run ubuntu. want keep documents on larger drive , have os on c: drive.
not quite sure how that. assume can drag home folder g: drive? how make windows go away? pretty useless; can't recognize wireless usb have ubuntu handles easily.

you might have @ community documentation changing mount point of /home:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/pa...ng/home/moving

think should simple as:

1. care on c\: (not in windows in ubuntu we'll playing partition table).

2. make sure backed up!

3. boot either ubuntu live cd / usb or make gparted cd / usb , boot that.

4. remove windows partition(s), , reallocate space ubuntu. careful not move or overwrite /boot partition, render system unbootable , we'll have fix it.

5. using guide in link posted, change /home mountpoint current location g:\ drive.

note: believe /home partition must on linux formatted partition (i.e. ext3 / ext4). so, if data on g:\ on ntfs partition, think you're going have repartition well. please correct me if i'm wrong here.
