to best soft proof print have have 2 accurate color profiles in place.

a monitor profile generated hardware or software calibrator during monitor calibration—if calibrated monitor 2.0 gamma , 5500 k white point, coresponding monitor profile generated os cs applications know monitor conditions are.

you need accurate press profile, assigned document on creation (edit>assign profiles). default web coated swop, creates lighter soft proof sheetfed coated.

if either or both profiles off softproof (view>overprint preview if layout has rgb color) less accurate. exmple, if monitor's  gamma 2.2, monitor profile has 1.8, , press profile swop press printing closer sheetfed, soft proof that's light.
