Thread: vsFTPd starting up problem

hello, new ubuntu, , new type of server tech.

last night setting server ubuntu server 12, wanted set ftp server. looked around , found vsftpd fine solution installed it, changed couple settings in vsftpd.conf file. noticed connect if user on server logged in , started service, if 1 not logged in not establish connection.

google around already, , did lot of stuff didn't work.

ideas on how start automatically? set soon..

if want transfer files securely , not wed ftp, use sftp instead. it's part of package openssh-server , needs no further configuration basic usage. odds have ssh server installed there nothing need , safely uninstall ftp service, being 1 more thing worry otherwise.

there are, of course, use cases ftp valid, part time consign history:

there sftp clients built nautilus, dolphin , others.
