Thread: CUPS network printer: how to deal with changing IP?

i have network printer (brother hl-2270dw) , works great. problem ip address periodically changes. when happens, computers can no longer find it.

it's setup under cups "lpd://192.168.1.104/binary_p1". if address changes 192.168.1.102, say, can still print if go cups , change it. wife can't that, , anyway there has better solution.

advice setup printer under cups in ip address-independent way?

just give printer static ip address , problem over.

how best depends on router hardware, on netgear can reserve ip addresses machines connect it, including printer, makes both printing printer, , ssh connections between computers easier.
