Holding last frame in composition

i have read can use time remapping hold last frame of png sequence can create pause between transitions, without importing last frame or anything.

i have tried technique described here >> http://forums.cgsociety.org/archive/index.php/t-90585.html think workflow in way.

my entire animation (+/- 600 frames) has been rendered in 3d , imported 1 sequence in afx. composited highlights , shadows in composition , called master. made smaller compositions , placed master comp inside them , cut size. placed seperate sequences in comp called stage. can import 1 single sequence when render again.

so.. trying let last frame of smaller sequences hold few frames, before transitioning next. time remapping doesnt seem work, because not holding when move last frame, shows next part of master animation.

is there way around or need import every sequence unique set?

you making mess nesting, description confusing... provide screenshots of timelines...
