Thread: Broken Video after clean install


i've made clean install of 12.04 x64 , happens after first time trying use it...



vidcard is: nvidia geforce gtx 570

can't try vidcard because don't have 1 , motherboard ([crossfirex] gigabyte ga-970a-d3 amd 970) not have one.

if cntrl+alt+f1 stays same.

ideas? thanks!

deal more info need partial screenshot. please send full mscreen shot, use thumbnail or link store site.

happen before log-in screen?, before login or after?

same if booted recovery? using various options?

or when logged in other desktop choices?

have tried editing grub menu script ? 'nomodeset' added 'linux' line. [to edit mode: press 'e' ubuntu entry highlighted; 'ctrl +x' afterwards, boot.]

can tty ? [ text terminal]?

hi, if developing platform independent software in linux using gtk+/gtkmm , you've managed cross compile windows, guide you. i'm posting because after researching topic myself, encountered many posts people have abandoned gtk+/gtkmm wxwidgets because of gtks ugly default appearance in windows/wine. gtk+ themeable in windows/wine gnome. have set correctly . . . here's how. guide gtkmm gtk+ similar. (1) firstly, download , install gtkmm windows using wine. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
