Thread: No sound Ubuntu 12.04 through HDMI


specs: asus g73jh i7/720; ati mobility 5870


have read through alot of threads on getting hdmi sound work , non of them have fixed issue. granted new linux , know gui aspect of finding similarities windows 7 has. become linux power user , figured step started. able install graphics driver , shows in use. connect hdmi hd tv , no sound. dont care auto switch sound, great not necessary. want sound work through hdmi.


have tried:
changed grub_cmdline_linux_default="quiet splash" grub_cmdline_linux_default="quiet splash radeon.audio=1" pact set-card-profile 0 output:hdmi-surround failure: no such entity sound settings: right click speaker > sound settings > output tab digital output (s/pdif) built in audio speakers built in audio 2 settings if right click area below 2 in "play sound through" box no "show hidden devices" doing hdmi connected eliminate possibility error. in advance

welcome newcomer,
think out of luck working because design hdmi laptops or video cards output video/graphics. have use sound computer or connect sound computer tv along side hdmi.

hi, if developing platform independent software in linux using gtk+/gtkmm , you've managed cross compile windows, guide you. i'm posting because after researching topic myself, encountered many posts people have abandoned gtk+/gtkmm wxwidgets because of gtks ugly default appearance in windows/wine. gtk+ themeable in windows/wine gnome. have set correctly . . . here's how. guide gtkmm gtk+ similar. (1) firstly, download , install gtkmm windows using wine. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
