Thread: Kubuntu 12.04 LTS won't install alongside Windows 7 for dual boot, but Ubuntu 12 will

after checking out distros, decided kubuntu variant 1 me. i've had ubuntu 12.04 , linux mint 13 install alongside windows 7 installation (same disk, shrunk windows partition 100gb) without issue.

downloaded 64-bit iso kubuntu.org, burned it, booted it, , low , behold, won't recognize have windows 7 os , install along side dual booting.

make sure wasn't partition problem fired ubuntu 12.04 disk had made , had no issue, option install alongside windows 7 installation (which detected) there.

@ point i'm wondering if have abandon kubuntu since seems doggedly determined thwart hopeful user. i'm not wiping out windows 7 install, still need it. i'm afraid partition empty space ext4 , swap , install kubuntu, because have feeling won't put grub on me since can't tell have existing os.

can out there shed light on or perhaps provide solution? thanks.

the standard installation cd kubuntu one: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/re....04.1/release/

give try. i've never had problem kubuntu not recognizing existing windows partition. in fact, far know, installer identical 1 in vanilla ubuntu. if still have problems, choose manual disk partitioning option when offered , configure filesystems yourself.
