Thread: software installation when root has different user name


hello,

in work place, setup computers such root has different user name. usual way of installing softwares using sudo not accept password. nor graphical software installation. have tried sudo -i , not work. can suggest how access root privileges , install software. 1 way logout normal user account , login root account , install softwares. not possible time. there way have root privileges both graphical , command line installations without logging out. using ubuntu 12.04.

help.

i've never done before, might want runaspw , runas_default options /etc/sudoers.

might able su rather sudo.

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
