Thread: Dell 600m says "network cable disconnected"

hi, i'm new here...

revived old dell 600m laptop new ebay hdd , lubuntu 12.04lts. os keeps saying network cable disconnected... known cable (i.e, unplug 600m , plug win7 mini 10... , works fine).

have no link light when plugged 600m (either directly or dock). worked fine when puppy 5 installed on old hdd (which sharted itself, , puppy sucks) it's not hardware problem.

ifconfig shows eth0:

link endcap: ethernet hwaddr 00:12:3f:f2:la:2f
broadcast multicast mtu:1500 metric 1
rx packets 0's
tx packets 0's
rx/tx bytes 0
interrupt:11

i've got dns setup 8.8.8.8 , 8.8.4.4

i'm forgetting command show on pci bus.... broadcom bcm4401 show eth0

help!

hi, have same brcm , had same problem once.
try this.
click triangle network dohickey next envelope....upper right screen
uncheck enable network
boot machine
repeat above , enable network.

here lspci command.

code:
lspci -nnk | grep -ia2 net
this show network cards , drivers.
hope helps
