Thread: I'd like ubuntu to really do nothing when I close the laptop

i upgraded netbook , pc ubuntu version 10.10 , 9.10 12.04. things going great since got rid of unity. except 1 thing.

in past, energy settings allowed make when closing laptop (you know, physically), screen turn off (and turn off). option turn off missing. there options suspend , nothing.

not big problem, thought, close case , let thing turns screen off after inactivity turn screen off.

, works. problem is not true ubuntu doing nothing when close laptop, locking sesion. every time close netbook , reopen after mere seconds have input password. there way make stop locking?

only if haven't tried this!!

go settings/user accounts click unlock , enable automatic login

edit: judging have been using ubuntu 6 years on 2 years possible solution might not work
