Thread: RAID problems in Ubuntu 12.04

a few days ago, made switch opensuse ubuntu, , haven't regretted switch aside 1 thing. on opensuse, had raid 5 (consisting of 3 2tb hitachi deskars), worked fine. upon migration ubuntu , after first restart, either computer freeze upon selection of ubuntu on screen, or goes text stating
"md127 : inactive sdb1[0](s)
1953512536 blocks super 1.2
unused devices: <none>"

friends , have tried can think of, hardware scans had indicated no problems hardware. wiped raid, , remade no avail.

assume freezing on purple screen has ati onboard graphics i'm using, might have faulty raid. haven't had opportunity wrestle , try , blasted thing work on 42" hdtv want on.

can me @ least make sure sdb1 drive dead before order new one? i'm not fluent in linux, forgive me perhaps being slow

htpc specifications:
