Images become dark and saturated Photoshop > JPEG

so have noticed several people having problem, , solutions work them don't seem work me!

i start in camera raw 8.0, move photoshop crop , tweak little bit more, when save jpeg , view in windows photo viewer or other medium, photo dark , overly saturated.  understand photoshop color mangaged space, , other programs not, still can't figure out how make see in photoshop translate jpeg image.  these used on website , need professional possible.  image on right dark, on front lawn , porch.

if can help, appreciated.

i suspect when you're seeing images not looking right you're viewing them through incorrectly or incompletely color-managed combination of software , settings.  note internet explorer, while read image color profiles, can show proper color if monitors set display srgb iec61966-2.1 color space accurately.  makes (incorrect) assumption monitors srgb.  believe windows photo viewer proper color-management if set display in window, not full-screen.

if you're wanting publish on web, 1 accepted "least of evils" method publish images profile , in srgb iec61966-2.1 color space.  @ least way people "standard gamut" monitors see them similar accurate colors, , folks color-managed setups see them accurately.  firefox , safari not assume monitor srgb, , both use image , monitor color-profiles during image display.

in bottom-center of camera raw looks link setting workflow options.  if click it, allow set camera raw open images of several profiles.  recall, out-of-box default adobe rgb.  *could* consider converting images srgb color space directly, whenever save them they'll in color-space that's more seen properly.  or open them wider gamut color space (as default), convert them (your last dialog above) srgb color space before saving jpeg (or use save web function conversion while creating jpeg).

there's no "one set of best parameters" can set , forget color-management.  various settings , functions have reason being provided.  important thing start understand how color-management works, can begin make settings , workflow choices make sense you, accomplish your goals.

note programs aren't color-managed @ all, still others improperly doing it, , others right.  can't sure going see image in correct colors, have try compromise.  yes, color-management in real world kind of mess.
