Thread: Suspend When Inactive Doesn't Trigger

suspend works fine , hibernate works fine setting suspend when inactive won't trigger suspend action. i'm assuming telling system there's still activity since both suspend , hibernate work fine when triggered drop down or command line.

kind of events keep machine in active state, , how can monitor whats causing mine not suspend?

google search, of i'll admit not being great at, produced advice of checking out gconf-editor apps>gnome-power-manager>actions no longer exists in 12.04 in dconf-editor org>settings-daemon>power looks settings went, , keys seem change changes gui in settings manager.

how go trouble shooting issue?

so did bit of experimentation morning see if couldn't narrow down issue. started doing secondary install make sure feature works on machine, did, did learn this. if have "turn screen off when inactive", under, "brightness , lock", set never, seems keep suspend when inactive working. true on totally unmodified fresh install. when both set 5 minutes (or i'm sure whatever) worked fine.

tried disabling things see whats causing machine keep auto suspending, tried not running conky , disabled back-light script use, changed nothing. shut down networking, did nothing.

i'm square one, thing can think fglrx driver may causing issue keeping systen in active state.

incidentally on secondary test install, didn't install proprietary fglrx driver. whats odd after auto suspend on test install, resuming resulted in hung system. i've had similar random hangs before on main install, thought due fglrx driver, i'm thinking otherwise. how fix or more info regarding beyond me, thought interesting, first time experienced type of hang without fglrx loaded.
