Thread: Installing NVIDIA driver


hi, i've downloaded current driver nvidia graphics card, installed. ubuntu driver runs it, gives big flicker every minute, & it's driving me crazy! download .run file, & i've read nvidia's instructions on how install, several posts in forums.

got work once! wouldn't complete, saying had exit x window. i've tried >sudo gdm-stop< terminal says doesn't recognize command. how shut off x window?

i'm running oneiric ocelot, unity 2d, 64-bit amd quad-core cpu.

before trying did, did try going through additional drivers , see if finds , downloads driver use? use nvidia , driver ubuntu using "out of box" had flicker mention. when installed okay, first thing did go additional drivers , found , downloaded correct driver , no more flicker.

hi, if developing platform independent software in linux using gtk+/gtkmm , you've managed cross compile windows, guide you. i'm posting because after researching topic myself, encountered many posts people have abandoned gtk+/gtkmm wxwidgets because of gtks ugly default appearance in windows/wine. gtk+ themeable in windows/wine gnome. have set correctly . . . here's how. guide gtkmm gtk+ similar. (1) firstly, download , install gtkmm windows using wine. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
