Thread: Top menu bar not loading when remotely connected

so installed ubuntu 12.04 desktop on home server , loving far. problem when try connect remotely desktop (be vnc, nx or rdp), nothing show except background. if had window open, show that's it. no icons on side or menu bar (i'm not familiar ubuntu terms yet, unity maybe?)

managed sidebar going creating .xsession file following content:

code:
gnome-session --session=ubuntu-2d
but makes sidebar appear, top menu bar still gone.

i'm using rdp connect server (i'm connecting locally through lan) xrdp installed.

if me out of pickle.. appreciate it!

btw, did try searching on google, have no idea bars called ended searchign keywords such "remote desktop ubuntu menu bar not working" wouldn't give me luck

remote desktops not same local desktops, 3d , 2d accelerated graphics required. don't know answer or work-around, wanted share "why" you.

can open terminal , type name of program you'd run. $path works same.

btw, congrats on using nx. best remote desktop protocol out there works easily. (months or year), spice available , change remote desktops.
