"Read Out Loud" Not Working With Adobe Reader XI

i'm having same problem running "read out loud" function on adobe reader xi many others have reported.  have latest version of reader xi, i'm running on windows 7, of other text voice functions work ok (e.g., windows "text speech" voice test works fine).

i've tried of "simple" fixes have been suggested on adobe community forums.  tried unchecking "enable protected mode @ startup" setting in preferences.  many others have reported, does not solve problem me.  had been using "read out loud" feature successfuly on pc (running adobe reader x , windows 7), familiar , running correctly.

on pc, "read out loud" function appears running, there no sound.  audio functions work other programs. first click on "activate read out loud" , "read end of document".  can click on selected portions of text , text surrounded box indicating "read out loud" working, produces no sound.  working pdf files not images, "read out loud" function works these pdf files on other pcs.

so i've sunk lot of time problem , have exhausted of "simple" fixes suggested on board (which haven't worked other users either, have given on reader , have switched other software).  known issue that's been reported many other users - needs addressed either software update or @ least clear set of instructions fix problem.  "read out loud" useful feature, i'd continue using reader.  know there's other text voice software available, there ffeatures of reader , i'd want continue using if fix available.

any on appreciated.  thanks.

hello,

i solved problem on computer.

windows 7 comes 1 "voice" installed. "microsoft anna - english (united states)" i'm not sure if in country.

you can test "voice/voices" running microsoft narrator. click [start] button , type "narrator" in [search programs , files] box. press [enter]. computer should begin talking. click [voice settings] button see list of installed voices. take note of voices listed. "mine has one."

adobe reader must have voice selected have installed. verify settings run adobe reader. top menu click [edit] click [preferences] @ bottom of list. in preferences window click [reading] left hand list. find "read out loud options" un-check [use default voice] choose voice drop down menu have verified installed on computer. click [ok]

my adobe reader had 4 voices listed choose from. found curious because have 1 voice.

hope helps.
