Thread: Poor throughput when using dd command

when use following command overwrite drive zeros:

###warning: command designed irrecoverably destroy data###
code:
sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda
i throughput of 20mb/s. hdd should able write maximum speed of 100mb/s

why writing speed lower? there way increase throughput (writing speed)?

kind regards,
aef

small bump. somebody's gotta know answer.

generating zeros can't hard task cpu , if disk able write @ higher speeds, why doesn't it?
