auto apply styles sheets upon import

i need import long excel file , want indesign automatically apply styles sheets. excel data in column becomes headline, column b become subheads, c become body text , on. needs import flowing text , not table. i've done quark have never done indesign. haven't used quark since 2006 , it's been long can not remember procedure quark , i'm trying search answer don't know called. please tell me find in indesign, direct me tutorial or tell me it's called can search further. thank much.

for flowing text want use xml, , can't that.

 

you can use data merge (the files explain well) , apply styling need field tags in template. each record becomes separate text frame (possibly overset), can stitched using script rorohiko.com. use method annual directory local antique dealers association, , works on scale (less 200 records, variable length content in dozen fields). large, i'd learn xml.
