Thread: Unity launcher stuck open, unable to run any commands or programs from Dash, 12.04


i upgraded 12.04, , i'm having pretty serious problems. first of all, annoyingly, unity launcher stuck open. in addition, things can computer programs shown in launcher. cannot use dash button, no matter type in search bar, programs can run unity launcher, says "sorry, there nothing matched search.". using alt-f2 try , run gives me search bar, , blank spot below it. whatever type there, shows in bar i'm typing, other no response. acts nothing has been done.

in addition, there no shutdown button found anywhere. have ctrl-alt-t , type sudo halt in shut computer down - , gets hung on "ubuntu" screen 4 dots.

ideas? need give , install live cd?

hi, if developing platform independent software in linux using gtk+/gtkmm , you've managed cross compile windows, guide you. i'm posting because after researching topic myself, encountered many posts people have abandoned gtk+/gtkmm wxwidgets because of gtks ugly default appearance in windows/wine. gtk+ themeable in windows/wine gnome. have set correctly . . . here's how. guide gtkmm gtk+ similar. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
