Thread: Ubuntu 11.10 won't connect wired connection

i installed ubuntu 11.10 on dell optiplex 745 today. not connect internet livecd, installed anyway. still doesn't work. first time linux has been installed on computer. windows xp connects no problem.

have broadcom netxtreme 57xx gigabit controller.

have tried removing network manager , using dhclient doesn't work either.

the last command runs forever. dont know if thats or bad. when do

don't know, maybe not running tg3 correctly?
when run modprobe tg3, not run forever. finishes no output. this:
