Thread: Transfering photos from a phone on ubuntu

i have old phone (samsung tocco lite) has load of photos saved on want recover. unfortunately, phone touchscreen has stopped working entirely , have use of 3 (non-touchscreen) buttons - turn on, turn off , lock/unlock. have cable connect laptop, when says 'insert memory card' on phone screen. think phone did have memory card @ 1 stage broke. i'm not sure why comes insert memory card when know photos saved on phone memory anyway?

there anyway can transfer photos off phone plugged in, not require using phone in way?

disclaimer: total ubuntu beginner. been using few months not used terminal yet (but have plans learn) please make instructions idiot proof.

in advance
