Thread: Nothing happens after installation

hi, installed copy of ubuntu 12.04 pc had (no os on previously), installation went through fine. said needed restart pressed enter, , when pc boots, nothing happens, blank screen.

i'm new linux though (ubuntu) place start, looks i've been beaten @ first hurdle.

i've done, or there ubuntu problem @ work here? ideas appreciated.

how did ubuntu run directly livecd? devices recognized?

that's first test before installing linux-based os.
if works well, shouldn't have issues after install, if do, next thing watch boot screen - press <esc> key until see @ boot time. errors , write them down exactly.

issues don't prevent login screen, since due vendors not providing linux/ubuntu drivers hardware. in boot, main issues around disk controllers, strange partitioning, hardware failures or little later in boot process, video drivers.

best advice can give post exact vendor , model of pc here - googling "{vendor} {model} ubuntu install" can too. laptops need special boot instructions, example. if pc home-built, posting chipsets , mb model might more help.
