Thread: Help me! Grub rescue


alright. have hp desktop , have ubuntu dualbooted on it. today wanted reformat computer factory settings proceededto deleteting ubuntu partition. went restart pc , this

error: no such partition.
grub rescue>

don't know do. computer , having problems that's why wanted reformat it. don't have cd windows either.

please me

sorry first post ubuntu forums isn't under happier circumstances. nevertheless, welcome!

if windows boot files still intact, may able restore windows using ubuntu livecd.

boot the livecd, open terminal (ctrl-alt-t), run following commands point mbr windows bootloader. commands assume drive sda. run commands below , disregard messages lilo not being configured.
code:
sudo apt-get install lilo sudo lilo -m /dev/sda mbr
reboot. if boot flag still on windows partition should greeted windows menu.
