Thread: desktop edition vs server edition

i wondering if 1 knew difference between desktop edition , server edition.

assume merely matter of packages bundled initial download, know accurate before install it.

i'm switching fedora ubuntu, , need run services, etc, on local machine, development machine , test server, personal computer.

assume can install desktop edition , install thing want after i'm , running, fedora, right?

tia

the obvious difference server edition has no gui @ all; command line. omits entire x window system. can install of several desktop packages later, add gui of choice, if want.

less obvious differences exist, since plan use system personal workstation in addition being server, gui/no-gui distinction significant.

i'm using desktop version here, have installed few server packages fill needs. since underlying kernel , system configuration same both, either way work well.
