Thread: After Update, Boots to Absolutely Nothing


i know posted question help, because having trouble using ubuntu again after such while.

, while using ubuntu again (10.04 lts), asked me if wanted install updates. said sure, , asked me if wanted reboot computer.

said yes, when computer rebooted, boots black screen flashing underscore cursor. there's absolutely no output , not let me input anything.

when asked help, linked me boot-repair app worked. tried time, , did not work. here linked me after boot repair finished, if helpful @ all.

have windows 8 cp installed @ sda3.

said, boots absolutely nothing. there's flashing cursor, not allow me type nor write me read.

is boot info script link recent (made after updates , attempted repair)? results indicate br able fix system reinstalling grub sda.

sure system booting first ubuntu drive (try removing other external device)?

also, regarding blinking cursor. 2 things cause this: system finding no grub/bootloader or it's booting ubuntu os have lost video drivers. see if it's second case, try holding down shift key during boot , see if grub menu appears.

if does, edit menuentry pressing 'e' , adding nomodeset 'linux' line. remove quiet splash well, f10 or ctrl-x boot.

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
