Thread: Can't install Ubuntu 12.04 from USB


i have been working on "new" machine couple days now, @ first going install chromium when didn't work figured i'd settle latest ubuntu distro. have sandisk cruzer 8 gb tried install ubuntu on. goal boot , install fresh partition made. got little taste of murphey's law , when booted on dell dimension 4600c (yes know old.) "operating system not found." installed using unetbootin , can see files on drive windows 8 know worked. tried again anyways. same results. know drive okay because installed windows 8 it. gives?!

just because see files on usb not mean worked. sounds if bootloader not installed correctly unetbootin. had serveral of these problems unetbootin in past. sure downloaded is ok, did verify checksum of iso? if have chance, create livecd , see if boots.

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
