Thread: Urgent! I was upgrading from 10.10 to 11.04 and when I restarted it's just a terminal


i have spent night upgrading , 8.04 disk have new 12.04. running update manager on 10.10 , golden; update installed, obsolete packages removed, , had restart. when clicked o.k. , restarted black screen came on , had log in through terminal. when did says
welcome ubuntu 11.04m(gnu/linux 2.6.38-15-generic-pae i686)

run 'do-release-upgrade' upgrade it.
when run 'do-release-upgrade' is
checking new ubuntu release
no new release found
and when run 'sudo apt-get upgrade' is
reading package lists... done
building dependency tree
reading state information...done
0 upgraded, o newly installed, 0 remove , 0 not upgraded.
i have spent past 7 hours upgrading 8.04 , dont want again, since don't know caused , might run same problem again. please help.

have done a

code:
sudo apt-get update
not upgrade. that'll update package lists.

check /etc/apt/sources.list (post here )
