Thread: Cannot Run Installation Disc

i use google lot… day long in thirst technical knowledge. ever post questions unless absolutely stumped.

am.

best of knowledge, entire system should up-to-date task. purchased refurbished computer month ago geeks.com, , family knows website reliable online store awesome deals on electronics. looked in "like new" condition.

motherboard has amd apu (accelerated processing unit), combines central, integrated graphics video, , integrated sound audio processors onto same motherboard.

computer came dual-channel ram, 4 sticks of 2-gb kingston, , replaced 2 of sticks 4-gb corsair ram corresponding channel (for difference of 4 gb of ram) purchased newegg.com.

bought new ssd amazon.com , installed open drive bay.

upon starting use oem version of windows 7 home premium (64-bit), 100% positive had installed of latest driver updates of hardware, until ran issues installing new operating systems, explain. keep in mind not value os, not mind replacing during process of re-formatting hdd different operating systems. not wish multi-boot 2 different versions of windows 7.

bios date.

goal:

wish upload new os onto new ssd can transfer of data hdd onto ssd, format hdd, transfer of data onto hdd permanently, , re-format ssd , custom install following 3 operating systems in order, partitioning volume sizes accordingly:

[bootable cd/dvd] canonical ubuntu linux 12.04 lts (precise pangolin) (x86-64) [40 gb space]
[bootable cd/dvd] microsoft windows 7 ultimate (x86-64), service pack 1 [60 gb space]
[bootable usb] apple (mac) os x v10.8 "mountain lion" hackintosh (x86-64) [80 gb space]

note: before commenting on mention of hackintosh, realize hackintosh has nothing issue. issue involves installation of ubuntu linux.

problem:

in 1 sentence: can't boot multiple operating systems onto computer, let alone 1 of them.

confusing.

first of all, it's given correctly edit boot priority in bios menu (del key) , correctly change boot order (f12 key). many times double-check this, can't seem understand why bios default settings think should use raid sata mode, because computer came single hard disk drive, , installed solid-state drive. read raid requires @ least 2 drives, of same amount of storage space?

cd/dvd optical drive , windows 7 home premium both fail boot in regular ahci sata mode , older ide mode , requests run startup repair, fails boot (but doesn't matter). have never set raid array manually, , can imagine windows has confused bios thinking using raid (perhaps faulty oem (original equipment manufacturer) installation?). aside fact bios not give me choice type of raid can use, assume maybe uses raid-0? concerns me, because if understand raid correctly, cannot utilize maximum capacity of data storage without higher increase in data loss probability. give clue toward proper diagnosis?

downloaded ubuntu linux installation .iso disc image ubuntu website, trying both direct download , torrent download. used infrarecorder write disc images onto dvd (then burned couple more tests in case of either faulty discs or faulty images). wubi.exe starts up, upon booting cd/dvd drive, see grub manager, lists 3 options linux installer. of them give me black screen ends signal monitor , forces me hold down power button. installation fails, of course, after each attempt, uninstall ubuntu program files.

should note after burning dvd, wubi.exe gives me message, "d:\wubi.exe not valid win32 application." when download wubi.exe directly ubuntu.com, run , install, reboot computer, , enter gnu grub, whereas can choose between either windows 7 or ubuntu, ubuntu not load , faces same issue stated in previous paragraph. proceed re-format ssd.

don't know if it's coincidence, remember same thing happening on old computer, has pioneer-brand cd/dvd optical drive, when tried install ubuntu linux 10.04 lts (lucid lynx) (32-bit).

tried popping in windows 7 ultimate installation disc, burned using windows 7 usb/dvd download tool, , booted! problem there installer prompted me needed install cd/dvd drive drivers continue. showed menu driver updates otherwise appear in list me install, nothing appeared. so… drivers date??

solution:

please, if knows answer not involve terminal coding work-around or temporary fix jeopardize functionality of operating systems , therefore defeat purpose of installing them altogether, appreciate of help!

if read through entire post, you're awesome. thank in advance!!
