Thread: Changing Gnome 3 default file links

i have updated ubuntu 10.10 (meerkat) 11.10 (ocelot) , installed gnome since don't unity, unfortunately means going gnome 2 gnome 3. [even in classic gnome 3 interface, things seem less flexible , friendly in gnome 2; see there broad user consensus change programmers not users, have accept it.]

problem how change default file links (documents, downloads, images, etc.) proposed in places entry on top toolbar in classic gnome 3 real addresses in system (for example have documents @ /media/data/documents , not @ /home/[my account]/documents). 10.10 , default openoffice change links opening openoffice, asking open file, , right clicking on default name change (like documents) not work in present situation either because of gnome 3 and/or because openoffice has been replaced libreoffice.

on web saw changes can effected editing user-dirs.dirs file in .config directory of home directory. have done this, , when reboot configuration file want it, still default values default links (e.g. /home/[my account]/documents "documents"). do?

thanks, john

p.s. note new values default file names apparently taken account programs shotwell, not libreoffice , not reflected in places list.
